Over the last year I have been intentionally slowing down. If we lead a life that is consistent with our core values, then we lead happy and fulfilling lives. You don’t need to tell everyone every little thing that you do. This is why celebrities can sometimes lead unfulfilling lives. A bold and extreme life is ruled by expectation. But the more expectation we have for life, the more power we give to marginal things disappointing us—things like what we wear or what we eat (Mt. But with a quiet life, we realize that we don’t need to have the wealthiest, world-changing careers to make a difference or lead a fulfilling life. This means we avoid staying busy for the wrong reasons.

Now I’m more of a caring, contemplative, intentional youth pastor and it doesn’t necessarily translate well for youth ministry. Everyone I know who leads a quiet life has a great collection of meaningful habits.

People expect to do more and be more. As long as you set the foundation, you won’t feel tricked into accidentally giving up more information about yourself than you originally planned to a friend, family member, colleague, or anyone else you come into contact with. That friend, the one who always wants to get lunch or a drink, but asks prying questions the entire time and then criticizes your decisions, only to tell your friends about your lunch a few days later, even though you asked to keep everything you said between the two of you. You know the one, right? Share it with your friends!

For people who lead a quiet life, relationships and community are of more importance than what their job title is.

But what so often happens is, we introduce elements like pride, ambition, excess, and greed to complicate our story.

I see no reason to post what I ate for breakfast on Facebook. A tenant has the statutory right to live in quiet enjoyment.
