These challenging singletrack trails provide a solid amount of fun with steep climbs, switchbacks, and other challening terrain. The Middle Saint Vrain and Coney Creek trails are challenging 4WD routs located close to the Denver metro area and on the edge of the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Only licensed, street-legal vehicles are allowed west of the Medano Pass summit and into the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. As the southern part of the 9,700 acre Flat Top-Peach Valley recreation area, this popular open area and trail system matches Peach Valleyfor riding opportunity. This trail system near Rand consists mostly of loops of intermediate level singletrack. Some of these are actual roads and so look out for the logging trucks which whizz through here. At over 10,000 feet this gentle Colorado pass provides great views of the southern part of the state. With many miles of moderately difficult riding, it would take days to explore all of this area. If you want some really open areas without the trees clipping the handlebars, then go into Routt National Forest. 40.104028°N 106.395°W. Roads east of the dunes allow access to trails on state and Forest Service land.

For some riders, that’s the perfect terrain to really hone in on their skills. Licensed dirt bikes can loop these trails together by taking a short trip down Highway 165. This track will connect with the Dodgeton and Baker Trails which are shared with other keen adventure folk most weekends. The Flat Tops area is a system of designated primitive forest roads that are accessible to all types of OHVs including side-by-sides. The Gypsum Hills OHV trails just north of town provide everything from scenic drives to more difficult 4WD routes. Multiple use trail network through the hills to the east of Buena Vista. Crooked Creek, accessible out of Eagle, is another beautiful Colorado mountain pass. We’ve saved one of the best until last! This trail system through the southern San Juan Mountains provides miles of trails ranging from the scenic Aspen Loop ATV route, to the Morrison trail which Provides both singletrack and ATV opportunites. This area also has multiple trails for all types of motorized users and skill levels. We’ve researched and have found these as the best dirt bike trails in Colorado: One of the most popular places to ride a dirt bike in Colorado is Hartman Rocks. Easy access from Colorado Springs makes this a great destination to visit for just an afternoon or for an entire day. Be warned! Rich in mining history with many full access routes leading past remnants of old Colorado, the main draw to this area is the ATV trails. Snowshoeing. Heading North then east offers some easier exploring opportunities. Popular riding area south of I-70 near the Utah State Border. In fact, it can be quite barren but don’t let that stop you! This recently re-developed trail system proves several, fairly short singletrack routes open to motorcycles. Riders should be comfrotable roding steep uphill and downhill rocky sections with tree spaced and handlebar width. Interactive OHV Map. Also offereing many differet trails to explore, this area is a great playground in western Colorado. Mostly singletrack trails with some limited ATV opportunities offer a great way to explore the hills, streams, and forests in this great part of Colorado. The northern part of the extensive Uncompahgre trail system provides access into the Uncompahgre National Forest. The State Forest State Park is located in the moose viewing capital of Colorado and offers abundant camping with ride-in/ride-out access to the OHV trails within the park. Please note access to the glacier is non-motorized. The views here of the snow-capped mountains are incredible. Lots of mud after rain events, so check the weather forecast. This system provides a great place for the less experienced enthusiast to access the roads in the mountains outside of Fraser. Good scenery and a few very challenging obstacles combine to make this a good nearby trail for Fort Collins residents. 7 Great Places to Ride Dirt Bikes near Baltimore, Maryland. Offering great access to Vail, Avon, and Edwards this trail system has many popular 4WD forest roads and ATV routes. This trail system leads through the southern Collegiate Peaks, near the bases of Mt. Nipple Peak and Prospector trails offer wooded singletrack riding with tight turns, narrow tracks and slippery roots. This new open OHV area is conveniently located just north of Rifle off of I-70. Just as in the North, the southern half of the Uncompahgre National Forest provides great riding with stunning views of the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. From Aspen to Denver, to Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, a great spot isn’t too far away.

Rampart Range is Lucky #7. Located between the Tarryall Mountains and Puma Hills, south and east of the Town of Jeffernson off of Highway 285. Wolford Campground & Marina is a clean, family-oriented retreat that’s close to many other activities. With many different trails spanning the spectrum in difficulty, all riders can find something to enjoy on these trails. The nearby Tabequaches Trail is a full size 4WD road that contiunes for many miles. Due to heavy snow, this area is closed for much of winter and generally opens up again in late April or early May. Specifically, you’ll want the Wolford Mountain area due to its extensive network of marked and unmarked dirt bike trails. Trails are rated from easy to extreme; however, this area is mainly recommended for highly modifided 4x4's and custom built rock crawlers. Riders crossing the border into Utah with OHVs need to have OHV permits for both states. Great views can be found as you gain elevation quickly. The singletrack trail becomes ATV trail a few miles north of Lone Pine and then continues north before terminating at the Helena Trailhead. This trail network on the western side of the Collegiate Peaks connects Taylor Park, Tincup, and St. Elmo through a series of routes open to all vehicle types. With easy access to I-70, these trails are a great option for someone looking for a quick trip into the mountains. Princeton and Mt. Once past the hill or its alternate, the two-track road flattens out and provides for many scenic views. It’s still safe to camp with your motorcycle but just use good practices to store food and pack the bear spray!
